What a difference a year makes at Fairline Yachts

It is just over a year since the all-new management team took over the British luxury boat manufacturer, Fairline Yachts and what a year it has been. Under the leadership of a highly experienced marine industry management team, the company has employed 227 people, launched two new models, the Targa 53 OPEN and Squadron 53, updated the interior finishes across the 48 foot model range, added a hardtop option and new interior to the Squadron 65 and unveiled plans for two highly anticipated and completely new boats. These upcoming models are the Targa 43 OPEN and the Targa 63 GTO, both of which have been created by renowned Italian superyacht designer, Alberto Mancini.

Russell Currie comments, “This time last year I said that our focus will be on creating high quality luxury motor yachts that boaters want to own and dealers want to sell. In that time over 85 boats have been sold, including ten during the first hour of this year’s London Boat Show. Key to our success has been getting our partnerships right. Combining the creative flair and style of Alberto Mancini, the engineering excellence of Vripack and the exceptional quality and British craftsmanship we already had at Fairline makes for an exciting combination, which has secured a very positive future for the brand. We have also worked hard to strengthen our dealer network, appointing new dealers in key global yachting destinations including Hong Kong, the Middle East, Malta, Argentina, Benelux, Portugal and Denmark.

“I am proud of all that has been achieved by Fairline over the past 12 months, but we aren’t resting on our laurels. We are committed to building on the success of 2016 with continued growth of the dealer network and through launching beautifully designed, handcrafted yachts with cutting edge innovations. The Fairline brand is celebrating its 50th year in 2017 and we are honouring the anniversary with a host of Golden Moments, including the launch of the highly anticipated Targa 63 GTO at Cannes Yachting Festival in September. There is plenty more to look forward to from Fairline!”

Derani Yachts at the Ocean Marina Pattaya boat show

Derani Yachts enjoyed a successful exhibition at the recent Ocean Marina Pattaya boat show which was held from the 24th to the 27th of November. On display were 3 brand new Axopar boats, a 28 foot Cabin, a 37 foot T-Top and a 37 foot Cabin model.

The boats arrived at Ocean marina from the Laem Chabang port in the early hours of the 23rd but with the hard work of the onsite Derani Yachts team and the staff from Seat Co Ltd, the local Mercury outboard distributor the boats, were ready and commissioned in time for the show.

The three Axopar boats were positioned in the centre of the on-water display and drew lots of attention from the visitors to the show and fellow exhibitors alike. The fresh new look and affordability of the range were a big hit and the boats were surely the most photographed and visited in the show.

Several positive leads were made at the show to be followed up with sea trials on the 37 foot cabin model back in Phuket. This boat will also be seen at upcoming super yacht rendezvous and boat shows in Phuket in the coming month. More details will be posted here soon.

The all new Fairline Squadron 53

Fairline have left nothing to chance when it came to designing and building the new Squadron 53. Every precisely-placed curve, every elegant edge, every understated shade of colour has its place in the grand scheme of things. No line or curve is left unconsidered, simply because absolute attention to detail and a genuine appreciation of quality go hand-in-hand. Painstakingly handcrafting an object of luxury such as the Squadron 53 is a matter of personal enjoyment and inner satisfaction. In fact, you only have to run your hand over the perfectly matched grain of the 53’s woodwork, or take in the graceful arch of its swept flybridge, or immerse yourself in a space so thoroughly considered to know it’s all true.
When Fairline embarked on their new design vision for the Squadron 53, a conscious decision was made to be bold. The classic Fairline form was re-imagined, in collaboration with one of Italy’s most exciting yacht designers, Alberto Mancini. New ideas and styles were incorporated but never at the expense of Fairlines uncompromising engineering heritage. The result is that every feature on the Squadron 53, whether you can immediately see it or not, has been carefully thought about and assembled with the entire yacht in mind.

The differences in the new yacht are breathtaking. Complete new exterior styling by Alberto Mancini. Multiple layout configurations of galley up or down and 3 or 4 cabin layout with crew. A flat floor from the cockpit through the saloon to the lower helm, allowing for full standing height in the master cabin with a flat ceiling throughout. An expansive cockpit with L-Shape seating and a 3-person sun pad conversion. Foredeck seating with sunshade and a spacious flybridge with wet bar, fridge and ice maker. A resin infused hull construction for strength and weight saving with shaft drive engine options up to 850 hp for a 34 knot estimated maximum speed and bow thruster as standard. A Hi-Lo bathing platform with steps to the transom and a 500kg lifting capacity to carry a tender or jet-ski. Gyroscopic stabilisation option available.

Fairline unveils its first Mancini design

Luxury British boatbuilder, Fairline Yachts, has unveiled its first yacht designed by renowned Italian superyacht designer, Alberto Mancini. The new Targa 62 GTO is the first of the new generation of models from Fairline Yachts featuring the world class combination of Mancini’s stunning Italian styling, rigorous and proven naval architecture by renowned Dutch firm Vripack and the hand-crafted, made in Great Britain quality of Fairline’s passionate and skilled craftsmen. The boat is currently in the final modelling stages with production set to begin this autumn and customer deliveries expected in the summer of 2017.

Mancini’s influence is clearly evident in the Targa 62 GTO, resulting in a sleeker style for Fairline. Andrew Pope, Head of Design at Fairline Yachts, explains, “The benefit of working with external designers is they push the boundaries of what is considered possible. Alberto has brought a fresh approach in his interpretation of Fairline’s design language. With the Targa 62 GTO, we have an exciting new shape which clearly retains Fairline’s design DNA. It is a progression – an evolution not a revolution – and an exciting first step in Fairline’s future design journey. Similarly, our naval architects, Vripack – who have a huge amount of experience working across boats of all types – have designed a hull shape that allows for maximum volume, which in turn has significantly improved comfort levels on board, as well as making the boat both stable and very safe.”

The Targa 62 GTO is designed to suit Fairline’s varied global client base, offering complete flexibility of layout with a multitude of options to suit each individual customer. For example, there are three different galley arrangements, allowing clients to choose the best configuration to suit their needs. A choice of long cockpit or long saloon variants, the former offering large outdoor space, the latter for those where air conditioned interior space is more important. Maximising space and comfort are the key features of the Targa 62 GTO with every centimetre optimised. Regardless of specification, owners will find a large saloon and cockpit as well as an impressive full-beam master cabin with adjoining full-beam en-suite. The boat features a large sliding, glazed sunroof and powered patio doors that disappear through the cockpit floor transforming the main deck and adding to the overall sense of space and light.

As well as ensuring the seakeeping and handling qualities that Fairline is known for, Vripack focused heavily on minimising noise and vibration levels throughout the boat. This, in conjunction with Fairline’s proven monocoque construction, maximises on board comfort for all. Mancini adds, “It has been an adrenaline fuelled adventure working on the new boat for Fairline. It’s been such a privilege to work on the project from the very beginning – starting with a blank sheet of paper. The inspiration was to empathise with the heritage of Fairline whilst drawing on my experience designing megayachts to influence the sense of space.

With one design team working on both the interior and exterior, the spaces flow seamlessly. We have focused on perfecting the quality, design and details of the boat. We wanted the boat to be recognisable as a Fairline, but with a fresh new approach that encompasses Italian styling, Dutch engineering and British craftsmanship. I am very excited about unveiling the final result!” Russell Currie, Fairline Yachts Managing Director, says, “Since taking the helm at Fairline Yachts in January, I have said that our number one goal is to build boats that our customers want to own and our dealers want to sell. The Targa 62 GTO is the first of a new generation of yachts from Fairline. With the feedback already received from customers and dealers around the world of this stunning new model, I can say with confidence that Fairline Yachts is very much on the right course to achieve that goal.”

Detailed layout plans and interior finishes will be available to view at the Cannes, Southampton and Fort Lauderdale Boat Shows later this year.

Fairline Yachts Secures Its Design Future

Fairline Yachts has confirmed its “design future” with a new partnership and collaboration with Italian yacht designer Alberto Mancini and renowned Dutch naval engineers, Vripack in an exciting strategic move by the company to secure its collaboration to design new and innovative yachts that will surprise, excite and delight Fairline customers throughout the world.

Andrew Pope, Head of Design at Fairline Yachts said, “Following an exhaustive selection process we are delighted to announce this design partnership. Alberto clearly demonstrated his understanding of the Fairline brand and we’re very excited to see him applying his talent and design language to our future new models. The addition of Vripack and the excellence in naval engineering that they bring, will ensure each of our new models are at the leading edge of marine technology.”

Alberto Mancini, “I am looking forward to creating a new era of Fairline yachts with a new, fresh, sleek design of both interior and exterior. My inspiration is taken from my experience in the mega yacht field, but also from the rich history of Fairline building timeless, classic, usable yachts for almost 50 years. In a romantic way, this partnership reminds me of a time from the 1950’s and 60’s when famous British car makers and the Italian styling houses of Pininfarina, Touring Superleggera and Zagato created some of the most beautiful and classic designs. No doubt the best way to create a successful yacht is to receive a blank sheet of paper and begin sketching – and that is exactly what I am right now doing for Fairline Yachts. With the expertise of Vripack I believe we have the perfect collaboration of British craftsmanship, Italian style and Dutch engineering.”

Russell Currie, Managing Director of Fairline Yachts said, “Introducing the creative flair and style of Alberto Mancini with the engineering excellence of Vripack to the exceptional quality and British craftsmanship we already have at Fairline makes an exciting combination. I look forward to showing our new product designs over the coming weeks and months.” The news of the new partnership and collaboration comes at the same time as the announcement of the all new Squadron 53 which will be launched at the London, Düsseldorf and Miami boat shows in January and February 2017. The iconic British boat builder aims to bring back some of their heritage in this design with the reintroduction of the “Fairline Fins”

Featured New Boat Dominator 26 metre Ilumen

The culmination of Dominator Yachts commitment to technology, craftsmanship and design, the 26 metre Ilumen is a truly ground-breaking vessel, featuring innovative technical features and state-of-the-art design methods used in its construction.

Featuring a high performance hull made of carbon fibre composite it provides a weight reduction of 25% compared to similar vessels. The high performance hull features a hard-chine with a blade bulbous bow, designed to deliver superior performance in both semi-displacement and semi-planing modes. It is powered by hybrid engines enabling the yacht to travel silently at speeds up to 6 knots and reach a top speed of 26 knots. At a long-range cruise speed of 8 knots, the yacht can travel more than 3,400 miles before refuelling, a range normally only available to yachts twice its size.

The yacht is designed by Alberto Mancini. Mancini’s dedication to light and space are demonstrated within the saloon, with floor to ceiling windows and glazed side passages. Luxury materials such as backlit white onyx, ebony, zebrano, matt oak, silk and soft nubuck leather have been used throughout to create a sophisticated, opulent feel. The owner is accommodated in a 30 sqm full beam owner’s suite. The private area includes an exclusive bow terrace providing spectacular 270 degree panoramic views. A unique feature of this space is a retractable ceiling.

Commenting on his designs, Mancini says, “I wanted to create something more emotional, merge interior and exterior space, so I decided to open the bow with 2 sliding glass doors to get direct access from the owners cabin to the upper private bow terrace.” He continues, “The grey veining of the Zebrino marble match the grain of the Zebrano wood, and both, the shower and the bathroom are linked by a soft curved line of golden mosaic.”
